Etsu Kwali urges residents to sustain peace, support

The Etsu Kwali and chairman of Kwali Council of Chiefs, HRH Luka Nizassan III, has urged residents of the area to sustain peace and support government programmes to accelerate development.
Nizassan made the call at an event marking the 30th anniversary of Kwali Area Council and the first 100 days in office of the council chairman, Mr Nuhu Daniel Kwali.
He said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices and contributions of past and present leaders to the growth of the area.
The traditional ruler congratulated Nuhu on his first 100 days in office, describing his engagement with the traditional institution and commitment to the welfare of residents as commendable.
According to him, Kwali Area Council, since its creation 30 years ago, has remained a symbol of resilience, unity and cultural pride.
He said the area had grown from a humble beginning to become “the cradle of education and the heart of the Federal Capital Territory.”
Nizassan assured the council administration of the traditional institution’s support and prayers, stressing the palace’s commitment to collaborating with the government to promote peace, protect the people’s culture and empower youths and women.
He also urged residents from different ethnic groups to continue to live peacefully, support government programmes and remain good ambassadors of Kwali.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, also urged residents of Kwali to reciprocate the infrastructural development in the area by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike, who was represented by Senator Philip Aduda at the anniversary celebration, also urged the residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the FCT, Aduda, and the Abuja South House of Representatives candidate, Hon Danladi Chiya.
The minister said the APC-led administration under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda had executed several road projects across the area, including the Yangoji-Dafa-Gwomani, Yangoji-Sukuku and Kwali bypass roads.
Nuhu, in his speech, said the 30 years since the creation of Kwali Area Council had witnessed rapid transformation in political, economic and social development.
He said the infrastructure provided across the council under Wike, through Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, had made it necessary for the council administration to rally support for the President’s re-election.
Nuhu, however, acknowledged that the first 100 days represented only the beginning, pledging that his administration would continue to listen to communities, engage stakeholders and utilise public resources responsibly.
