Insecurity Won’t Stop Ongoing Projects, Benue LG Chairman Declares

Chairman of Guma local government area (LGA) of Benue State, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has said despite the security challenges in some communities he would complete his ongoing projects.
Orwough said his administration is supporting the fight against insecurity through the construction and opening of rural roads to boost economic activities and ease the mobility of security operatives.
While commending Governor Hyacinth Alia for his support, Orwough said the governor had directed every council chairman to ensure adequate security in his or her local government.
Addressing a news conference in Makurdi to mark his two years in office, Orwough said he established scholarship programme for Guma students, “Annual scholarship support for 200 students from the 10 council wards, with 29 students benefitting from each ward.”
Orwough said he had implemented several development projects across different council wards based on identified needs.
He said, “There are security challenges that require continuous attention, and there are ongoing projects that must be completed. For me, the work continues. My commitment is to ensure that we build on what we have started, complete ongoing projects and respond to the needs of more communities across Guma,” he said.
Orwough added that his administration provided vehicle and motorcycles to support security operations.
“The Governor of Benue State deemed it necessary to direct every local government chairman to ensure that there is adequate security in his or her local government. Of course, one of the ways we are supporting security operations is by opening up roads” he said.
