Ogun APC Holds Interfaith Prayers for 2027, Adeola and Abiodun Express Confidence

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State convened an interfaith prayer gathering on Wednesday in preparation for the 2027 general elections. At the event, the party's governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, voiced assurance that the APC would triumph and that he would become the state's seventh executive governor.
Adeola, who is also known as Yayi, declared, "That same God that will give us victory on January 16 will also support me to become the seventh Executive Governor of Ogun State." He further predicted a landslide win, stating that the party would face no opposition. "God will give us victory and clear our path without a fight because there will be nobody contesting against us. God has started that already. On February 6, 2027, there will be nobody, because they are all partyless," he said. He added, "They are running helter-skelter to perfect their shortcomings, but God has spoken that He's going to give us victory without a fight."
Governor Dapo Abiodun, who also addressed the gathering, described the prayer session as a chance for APC members to seek divine direction and entrust their political journey toward 2027 to God. He emphasised that the event was intended to honour God through prayers, songs, and thanksgiving, and he expressed confidence that their supplications would be answered.
Reflecting on his own political experience, Abiodun recalled the difficulties of the 2019 governorship election, describing his victory as evidence of God's intervention. He noted that the political climate then was challenging, but he maintained that the same divine power that guided him through those obstacles could steer the state through another transition. "We have gathered here to seek the Almighty's face and commit our journey of 2027 into His hands," he said. "Today, we have come here to put God first, to pray, dance and sing. I am very confident, without a doubt, that our hearts' desires shall be granted by the men of God who have prayed for us." He continued, "I recalled how the journey was in 2018. When we started, it was not like this at all; it was tough. But God has used me as a testimony. God of 2018 is still around, and He will continue to allow us to embark on a smooth transition from a sitting governor to the incoming governor."
The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, took part in the religious proceedings by reading from Second Chronicles, chapters 17 to 20. Pastor J.T. Kalejaye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God delivered a message, stressing the need for good leadership to achieve greater progress. He called on the congregation to turn away from evil and seek God's guidance and victory.
Additionally, the APC deputy governorship candidate, Mrs Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, participated in the interfaith session by reading verses from the Holy Quran.
