Police Arrest Suspect With Concealed ‘Presidency’ Number Plate In Abuja

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a man accused of impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) after intercepting a Lexus LX570 SUV bearing a concealed number plate in Maitama, Abuja.
The vehicle was intercepted at about 8 pm on October 20, 2026, following which the occupant was arrested for investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that preliminary investigations showed that the concealed number plate bore the inscription “PRESIDENCY” and registration number 10B218 FG.
Adeh said that further investigations revealed that the documents the suspect presented to establish ownership of the plate were forged, despite his claim to be its legitimate holder.
According to her, the suspect was allegedly impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the SGF.
“Following the suspect’s claim of being the legitimate holder of the number plate, further investigations revealed that the plate’s registration documents were forged and that the suspect was impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” she said.
The police spokesperson added that investigations were ongoing and the suspect would be charged to court upon their conclusion.
The command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with police operations and promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
It also provided its emergency contact numbers, 08032003913 and 08061581938, for members of the public to report security concerns.
