Dangote Foundation Offers Students 10 Free Shares in Refinery IPO

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has introduced a Student Share Grant Initiative that gives young Nigerians a practical entry into investing while promoting financial literacy and long-term wealth building.
The scheme is available to students who are at least 18 years old and enrolled in public or private tertiary institutions throughout Nigeria. It aims to teach participants about saving, responsible investing and ownership by allowing them to take part directly in the ongoing Initial Public Offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE.
To benefit, a student must complete verification and subscribe for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the foundation's website. The Foundation will then fund an extra 10 DPRP shares in that student's name at no additional cost.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, explained that the programme is intended to offer young Nigerians a significant first experience with investment and ownership.
"Supporting young people goes beyond providing access to education. It must also involve equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to participate in economic growth and wealth creation. Through this initiative, we want students to understand the value of saving, responsible investing and long-term ownership. Our goal is to help them develop an investment mindset early in life," he said.
He noted that early contact with investment opportunities can shape future financial choices and boost involvement in the formal economy.
"When young people understand ownership and investment early, they are better positioned to make informed financial choices, build wealth responsibly and contribute more actively to economic development."
Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, the Foundation's Chief Executive Officer, said the initiative connects financial education with hands-on experience.
"Financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn. This programme allows eligible students to experience first-hand how the investment process works, from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership, while reinforcing the importance of responsible participation in the capital market," she said.
She also stated that the Foundation's aim goes beyond one IPO deal to nurturing a lasting interest in financial literacy, investing and asset ownership.
The ADF stressed that the initiative is a separate Foundation programme meant to advance financial literacy and that participation is voluntary.
