MFM empowers women, awards scholarships to pupils in Ondo

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Ondo Mega Region 1, Southwest 4, Adesuper, Akure, has empowered 10 women with brand-new sewing machines after free training in fashion design, supported widows with grinding machines, and awarded scholarships to 20 indigent pupils.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday, the initiatives are part of the church’s efforts to promote self-reliance, improve livelihoods and support access to quality education among members and residents of its host community.

The fashion designing programme was designed to equip women with practical skills to establish their own businesses, generate income and become financially independent.

Similarly, grinding machines were provided to widows to strengthen their businesses and help them meet the financial needs of their households, while the scholarships were awarded to indigent pupils of Mountain Top Nursery and Primary School, Akure, to ease the burden of educational expenses.

Speaking on the initiatives, the Mega Regional Overseer of MFM Ondo Mega Region 1, Pastor Ademola Adeniyi, said the programmes reflected the vision of the General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, to empower people and promote financial independence.

“Our father-in-the-Lord directed that all MFM churches must impact positively on the lives of members and host communities through explosive evangelism, not only by preaching and deliverance but also empowering them.

“Through these skills, we can ensure they have a source of livelihood that can put food on their tables and make them better than the way they came,”Adeniyi said.

Adeniyi described Dr. Olukoya and his wife, Dr. Folashade Olukoya, as philanthropists committed to transforming lives through humanitarian services and empowerment programmes.

He disclosed that the MFM Ondo Mega Region 1 Resource Centre, located on the church premises at Adesuper, had trained more than 100 women, teenagers and youths in fashion designing free of charge and provided sewing machines to beneficiaries.

He urged the latest beneficiaries to put their newly acquired skills into practice and encouraged church members and the general public to patronise their businesses.

According to him, the church’s empowerment initiatives are aimed at helping beneficiaries establish sustainable sources of income rather than depend solely on external assistance.

On the scholarship scheme, Adeniyi commended the board members of Mountain Top Nursery and Primary School for supporting the initiative, describing the awards as an investment in the future of the children.

He said the church’s social interventions extended beyond spiritual activities to address the physical, emotional, and economic needs of individuals and families.

“MFM goes beyond spiritual activities by supporting people through various humanitarian programmes, including cash assistance, free skills acquisition for widows, women and youths, as well as sporting activities to engage young people,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment programmes commended the church for the interventions, expressing optimism that the support would improve their livelihoods and strengthen their capacity to provide for their families.

The women who received sewing machines expressed gratitude to God for using the church to establish and expand their tailoring businesses, saying the equipment would enable them to serve more customers, generate income and achieve greater economic independence.

They noted that the training had equipped them with practical skills, while the sewing machines would provide the tools needed to turn those skills into sustainable businesses.

The widows who received grinding machines also welcomed the gesture, describing it as timely support that would help them strengthen their businesses and address some of the economic challenges they face in providing for their households.

Parents and beneficiaries of the scholarship programme equally expressed appreciation to the church, noting that the financial assistance would reduce the burden of school expenses and help the children continue their education.

The organisers said the initiatives formed part of MFM’s broader commitment to combining evangelism and spiritual development with entrepreneurship, education and community service.

They added that the programmes were designed to promote productivity, strengthen families and provide beneficiaries with sustainable means of livelihood.
