FG’s ₦50,000 Support: 6 Very Simple Steps For ALAT By Wema Bank Users To Access The Funds

The Federal Government has introduced a USSD option through ALAT by Wema Bank for selected Nigerians to check their eligibility and access its ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The intervention, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is designed to provide financial assistance to poor and vulnerable households affected by rising living costs.

ALAT, the digital banking platform of Wema Bank, is among five approved payment providers facilitating the disbursement of the government support.

According to the Federal Government’s NERSI portal, beneficiaries can use the platform’s USSD service to check their eligibility and accept the payment without requiring internet access.

How To Check Eligibility And Access FG’s ₦50,000 Through ALAT

Customers can follow these steps to check whether they have been selected:

1. Dial the USSD code: Open your phone dialler and dial *945*23# using your registered mobile number.

2. Check your eligibility: Select the eligibility-check option from the menu and follow the instructions displayed.

3. Accept the support: If selected, follow the prompts to consent to receiving the ₦50,000 grant.

4. Receive the payment: After accepting the support, your mobile wallet will be activated and the money credited.

5. Confirm payment: You will receive an SMS notification confirming the credit.

Who Is Eligible For FG’s ₦50,000 Support?

The Federal Government says the intervention is targeted at poor and vulnerable households selected from verified national identity records and the National Social Register.

The programme covers eligible households across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

However, having an ALAT account does not automatically qualify a customer for the payment.

Beneficiaries are selected by the government, and there is no public application or registration process.

The government has also explained that payments are being made in phases, meaning not everyone will receive a notification at the same time.

Is The ₦50,000 Payment Free?

Yes. The government says accepting and receiving the support is free.

Beneficiaries are not required to pay registration, processing or activation fees.

However, customers withdrawing through POS agents may be charged the agent’s usual withdrawal fee.

The government has warned Nigerians against fraudsters demanding money or confidential banking information to facilitate payment.

Beneficiaries are advised never to disclose their ATM PIN, one-time password (OTP) or other security details.

For enquiries about the programme, Nigerians can contact the NERSI helpdesk on 0700-022-2222
