Awoniyi Foundation Equips 350 Kwara Kiddies League Players With Football Boots

The Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation has distributed football boots to 350 young players participating in the Kwara Kiddies League (KKL) as part of efforts to support grassroots football development in Nigeria.
The initiative, facilitated by the foundation established by Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, is aimed at providing young footballers with essential equipment to support their development and participation in the game.
The distribution ceremony, held in Ilorin on Saturday, attracted commendation from the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji, who praised the striker for investing in youth football.
Mogaji, who participated in the distribution, said Awoniyi’s intervention demonstrated the importance of partnerships between successful sports personalities and grassroots development programmes.
He noted that providing equipment and opportunities for young players could help strengthen the foundation of football in the state and enable children to pursue their ambitions.
According to him, sustained support from individuals and organisations is necessary to develop young talent and build a more effective grassroots sports system.
Mogaji also expressed hope that Awoniyi’s example would encourage other successful athletes to contribute to the development of sports in their communities.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Kwara Kiddies League, Ibrahim Jatto, thanked the foundation on behalf of the league’s more than 500 young players.
“On behalf of the over 500 young players in the Kwara Kiddies League, I sincerely appreciate the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation for its generous donation of football boots to our players,” Jatto said.
He disclosed that the foundation had supported the league over the years through donations of playing kits, meals and cash rewards worth millions of naira for outstanding players.
Jatto described the latest intervention as another boost for the children, many of whom hope to build careers in professional football.
He also highlighted the league’s efforts to improve the visibility of its players through subscriptions to Wyscout and Eyeball, platforms that can help showcase football talent to a wider audience.
“With increased visibility through our league’s subscriptions on Wyscout and Eyeball, your continued support is helping create greater opportunities for these young talents,” he said.
Jatto thanked Awoniyi and his foundation for their continued commitment to the league, adding that the support was helping young players pursue their football ambitions.
The ceremony was attended by Awoniyi’s parents, Mary and Solomon Awoniyi, who witnessed the distribution of the boots to the beneficiaries.
The Coventry City striker also serves as chairman of the Kwara Kiddies League, through which he has maintained an interest in identifying and nurturing young football talent.
The latest donation adds to the foundation’s support for the league and provides equipment for 350 participants, reinforcing the role of private initiatives in supporting youth football development.
For the beneficiaries, the boots are a practical addition to their training and match-day needs, while the organisers hope continued investment will help more young players develop their skills and gain greater exposure to the sport.
