2027: Dickson Has No Secret Or Open Deal With APC – NDC
The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied claims that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is a front for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other political party.
The opposition party also said Dickson had no secret or open agreement with the APC.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC said its leadership would have ignored what it described as “beer-parlour talk and murmurs” making the rounds, but decided to respond to the claims to prevent them from being accepted as fact.
The party said Dickson could have joined the APC, but instead chose to help build the NDC alongside like-minded Nigerians.
“The leadership of our great party, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) – the largest opposition and fastest-growing political party in Nigeria today – would have ignored the beer-parlour talk and murmurs making the rounds, but history teaches that lies told over and over, if unrefuted, are taken as truth by the gullible.
“Hence, we deem it necessary to issue this strong and unequivocal rebuttal.
“Our National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the ruinous and diabolical APC regime,” the statement said.
The party also dismissed suggestions that Dickson was involved in any arrangement to undermine the NDC or its presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“Anyone who knows Senator Dickson’s public service record, and is in his right senses, will not associate him with any under-the-table arrangement to sabotage his own party and its Presidential Candidate and running mate, Mr Peter Obi and Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” it said.
The NDC said Dickson’s record in the Senate and his positions on national issues demonstrated his commitment to the party and its supporters.
It added that his decision to remain with the opposition party, rather than join the APC, reflected his commitment to building the NDC.
According to the party, allegations linking Dickson to any compromise with the APC were “wicked, vexatious and mendacious”.
The NDC further alleged that the claims were coming from political opponents who were concerned about the party’s growing support across the country.
“We are fully aware that these unfounded and baseless allegations are emanating from the ranks of our political opponents, who are envious of the growing popularity, acceptability and organic spread of the NDC across the length and breadth of Nigeria,” the party said.
The party urged its members, supporters and well-wishers to remain focused on its political activities and work towards the success of its candidates in the 2027 elections.
