Fintiri Warns Against Political Thuggery, Vows Tough Action Against Violators

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has warned politicians and their supporters against engaging in political thuggery, violence and other activities capable of threatening peace and security in the state, declaring that offenders will face the full weight of the law.
Governor Fintiri issued the warning while receiving a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from Toungo Local Government Area, led by the council’s chairperson.
The Governor emphasised that although political parties and their supporters have the constitutional right to campaign, mobilise and canvass public support, such activities must be conducted peacefully and in strict compliance with the law.
He maintained that his administration had provided a level playing field for all political parties to pursue their legitimate political interests, stressing that political differences must never become an excuse for violence, intimidation or disruption of public peace.
Fintiri warned that his government would not tolerate individuals or groups attempting to undermine the prevailing peace and stability in Adamawa State under the guise of political activities.
He reiterated that the protection of lives and property remained a fundamental responsibility of government, assuring residents that necessary measures would be taken to prevent politically motivated violence and maintain law and order.
The Governor further stressed that his administration remained focused on sustaining peace and security while consolidating achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital development.
He noted that the progress recorded across various sectors must not be undermined by acts of political recklessness, intimidation or lawlessness.
Fintiri urged political leaders, party officials, candidates and their supporters to demonstrate maturity, tolerance and respect for democratic principles as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also called on political stakeholders to place the collective interests of Adamawa State above personal or partisan considerations, emphasising the importance of peaceful coexistence and responsible political engagement.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s determination to maintain a peaceful and secure environment in which all political parties can operate freely within the confines of the law, while ensuring that individuals who engage in violence or threaten public safety are held accountable.
