Fury and Joshua to Meet at London Press Conference on Wednesday
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will hold their first joint media appearance on Wednesday, with the British heavyweights set to promote their forthcoming fight.
The press conference is scheduled to take place at the British Airways ARC at the Olympia in London, according to Sky Sports, before the pair meet in the ring at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, who promote Joshua and Fury respectively, are also due to be at the event, where the two boxers will come face to face for the first time in the build-up to the bout.
The media gathering had been in doubt after Hearn stated at the weekend that nothing had been confirmed for the event. That uncertainty has now been cleared, with an agreement in place permitting the fight's promotional activities to go ahead.
The resolution came days after Fury publicly cast doubt on the fight, saying there was only a "one per cent" chance he would take on Joshua next. The former heavyweight champion also asked why a meeting with Joshua had never come together, despite a lengthy career in which he had faced other heavyweight titleholders.
"I've had nearly 40 professional fights, yeah, and I've been on top of this game for over a decade," Fury said in an interview with FurociTV.
"How did I manage to fight all these people before you, all these champions, yeah, for all these titles that there is in boxing, but, yeah, every time it comes to fighting [Joshua]… it never happens. Has anyone ever asked themselves why?"
In a separate development, Hearn had queried whether Fury had joined the mandatory pre-fight drug-testing programme. Fury's manager later told Sky Sports that the former heavyweight champion had signed up six days ahead of the deadline.
The WBA 'Super' heavyweight title is also reported to be on the line, giving both men an added reason to win. Fury said the belt would raise the stakes, noting that the victor could become a three-time heavyweight champion.
Wednesday's event in London will be the first major public appearance by Fury and Joshua together since their all-British fight was officially announced last week.
