Barau Sacks Special Assistant Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has terminated the appointment of Rashida Adamu, popularly known as Rashida Mai Sa’a, as a Special Assistant in his office.
The termination was contained in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, by Shitu Madaki Kunchi, media aide to the Deputy President of the Senate.
According to the statement, the decision takes immediate effect and followed allegations of anti-party activities and conduct considered detrimental to Senator Barau’s political interests in Kano State.
The office said investigations into the allegations established that Rashida made public statements capable of inciting political supporters and undermining the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
It also accused the former aide of making disparaging remarks against Senator Barau despite benefiting from political appointments and other institutional support associated with the senator.
The development came a day after Senator Barau’s office issued an advisory warning political appointees against what it described as internal sabotage.
In the advisory issued on Sunday, September 27, the office alleged that some beneficiaries of the senator’s political platform were working to weaken the APC’s grassroots structure in Kano State.
LEADERSHIP reports Rashida’s dismissal is the second high-profile disengagement from Senator Barau’s political team in recent weeks.
Earlier, the senator terminated the appointment of another legislative aide, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, following controversial social media posts concerning Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Senator Barau’s office reiterated that political appointees serving under him are expected to observe party discipline, administrative decorum and loyalty to the APC’s political objectives in Kano State.
