Kano Governor Pledges Continued Support for Police Academy Wudil
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised that his government will keep supporting the Police Academy, Wudil (POLAC) and work closely with it to improve its operations, police training and national security.
The governor made the commitment at the Government House in Kano when he hosted the academy's newly appointed commandant, AIG Auwal Musa Muhammad, who was there to introduce himself formally.
Yusuf noted that his administration enjoys a good working relationship with security agencies in the state and said such partnerships would be deepened to safeguard lives and property.
He praised POLAC as a well-regarded institution that is central to preparing senior police officers who make important contributions to policing and national security.
The governor congratulated AIG Muhammad on his appointment and said he was confident that the commandant's experience and professional record would help the academy grow further.
In his remarks, AIG Muhammad said the purpose of his visit was to present himself to the governor, and he thanked the state government for its sustained focus on security issues.
He added that the academy would step up its efforts to deliver professional training for police officers that reflects current security demands and the evolving nature of policing.
Prior to becoming commandant of POLAC, AIG Auwal Musa Muhammad was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone IX, which is headquartered in Calabar.
The commandant also expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the reception and for the support the Kano State Government has given to security institutions and agencies operating in the state.
