Crawford University Gains NUC Approval for Nine New Programmes
Crawford University, located in Igbesa, Ogun State, has obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce six undergraduate health sciences programmes and three postgraduate programmes starting in the 2026/2027 academic session. The move expands the institution's offerings in healthcare and professional development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Solomon Makinde, made the announcement on Tuesday during his welcome address at the 5th International Conference of the International Association of Languages Educators (IALE) 2026, which is taking place at the university.
The NUC's approval came after a resource verification exercise carried out in the last week of August 2026, where the Commission evaluated the human and material resources the university presented for the proposed programmes.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, this development represents a major step in Crawford University's strategic growth and fulfils a key pledge of the current administration to widen the institution's academic offerings and enhance its role in developing human capital.
Makinde said, “Today, with gratitude to God and appreciation to the National Universities Commission, I am pleased to announce that all six undergraduate health sciences programmes and the three postgraduate programmes presented for Resource Verification have received approval for commencement in the 2026/2027 Academic Session.”
The newly approved undergraduate programmes are Nursing Science, Public Health, Community Health, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography and Physiotherapy.
At the postgraduate level, the university secured approval for programmes in Finance, Marketing and Mass Communication.
Makinde characterised the approval as “a significant milestone in the history and strategic development of Crawford University,” adding that the new programmes would further bolster the university's academic portfolio and increase its contribution to human-capital development in Nigeria.
The announcement was made during the IALE 5th International Conference 2026, which has attracted educators and scholars from various institutions to Crawford University.
Crawford University is a private Christian institution licensed by the National Universities Commission in April 2005. Established by the Apostolic Faith Mission, it focuses on blending academic excellence with strong moral values under its motto, “Knowledge with Godliness.”
