2026 Kaduna International Polo Tournament gallops off October 15

The 2026 Kaduna International Polo Tournament is scheduled to commence on October 15, 2026, at the historic Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna.
In a historic milestone, this prestigious competition—one of the most competitive polo events in the country—will be decided over ten days for the first time in its 106-year history.
Kaduna Polo President Mohammad Babangida confirmed that foreign professionals from Argentina, Europe, and South Africa will jostle for top honors alongside Nigeria’s finest polo patrons and players.
“The tournament committee has gone the extra mile to build in some notable innovations that would deliver good value for money and time to our esteemed sponsors, special guests, and thousands of polo buffs and tourists who will be part of the grand festival,” Babangida assured.
Vice President and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, General Kapeh Kazir, disclosed that teams will compete for major prizes, including the coveted Georgian Cup, the Emir of Katsina Cup, the Imani Cup, and the glittering EL-Amin Cup.
Other subsidiary trophies at stake include the General Hassan Katsina Cup, Sardauna Cup, Kere Ahmed Cup, Shehu Kangiwa Cup, Musa Yar’Adua Cup, Dangote Cup, and the Argentine Ambassador Cup, among others.
Top polo clubs are expected from Lagos, Kano, Ibadan, Zaria, Sokoto, Abuja, Keffi, Bauchi, Minna, Jos, Yola, Port Harcourt, and Maiduguri, alongside more than fifteen Kaduna-based teams.
Preparations for the fiesta—dedicated to celebrating the Georgian Trophy and other top prizes—will hit a climax with the traditional cheque presentation night. During this event, corporate giants, state governments, partners, and individual donors renew their commitments to ensure a befitting festival that delivers on all fronts.
