Adamawa Opens Bids For Fertiliser, 300 Tractors, Rice Supply

The Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture has opened bids for the procurement of fertiliser, 300 tractors and processed rice as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural development and ensure transparency, accountability and competitiveness in public procurement.
The bid-opening exercise, held on Monday, 19 October 2026, brought together senior officials of the Ministry, representatives of bidding companies, civil society organisations, the Adamawa State Bureau for Public Procurement and members of the media.
Speaking during the exercise, the Permanent Secretary and Chairperson of the Ministry’s Tender Board, Mrs. Heidi E. Sunday, PhD, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to due process, assuring participating companies of a fair, transparent and competitive procurement exercise.
Providing details of the procurement, the Secretary of the Tender Board and Procurement Officer, Mr. Zailani Adamu, disclosed that the exercise was divided into three lots.
According to him, Lot 1 covers the procurement of assorted NPK 20:10:10 fertiliser, while Lot 2 involves the supply of 300 units of 75-horsepower tractors with accompanying agricultural implements. Lot 3 covers the procurement of parboiled, destoned and polished rice grains.
Adamu revealed that more than ten companies submitted bids, which were publicly opened in the presence of relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and compliance with established procurement guidelines.
A representative of the Adamawa State Bureau for Public Procurement, Mallam Yunusa, commended the Ministry for its openness and adherence to due process, noting that wider participation would encourage healthy competition and ensure value for public funds.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Sunday urged prospective successful contractors to demonstrate professionalism, maintain high-quality standards and comply strictly with contractual obligations.
She emphasised that the Ministry would not tolerate poor performance, unnecessary delays or breaches of contractual agreements, stressing that timely delivery and quality assurance remained essential requirements.
The Permanent Secretary further explained that all submitted bids would be forwarded to the appropriate technical and evaluation committee for detailed assessment in accordance with established procurement procedures.
The exercise reflects the Ministry’s commitment to transparent procurement practices and the provision of agricultural inputs and equipment aimed at supporting farmers, improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the state’s agricultural sector.
It also forms part of broader efforts to promote accountability, efficiency and value for money in the implementation of agricultural programmes across Adamawa State.
