Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, has expressed condolences to the Nigerian Military, the Nigerian Air Force and the families of personnel who lost their lives in an aircraft crash in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Yar’adua, in a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, described the incident as a painful loss to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the country.
The retired military officer said the fallen personnel answered the call to serve the nation with courage, dedication and honour, adding that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.
“As a retired military officer, I understand the pain and weight of this loss. These brave men and women answered the call to serve our nation with courage, dedication, and honour, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” he said.
Yar’adua commiserated with the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Air Staff and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria over the incident.
He also extended his thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families, saying the crash was a sad moment for the military community and the nation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. We pray that Almighty Allah grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and gives their families the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
The senator said the Senate Committee on Army stood with the Nigerian Military during the difficult period and would continue to support efforts to honour fallen military personnel.
He also pledged the committee’s support for measures aimed at improving the safety and welfare of serving troops.
