Fintiri Appoints Professor Ibrahim Danjuma Rector Of Adamawa State Polytechnic

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Danjuma as the new Rector of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, Professor Danjuma’s appointment followed the recommendation of the institution’s Governing Council at its 35th Emergency Meeting.

The new Rector succeeds Professor Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, whose tenure expired in March 2026.

Congratulating Professor Danjuma on his appointment, Governor Fintiri charged him to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence, discipline, integrity and professionalism in the administration of the institution.

The Governor urged the new Rector to bring his wealth of academic and administrative experience to bear in strengthening institutional management, promoting innovation, advancing technological development and improving the quality of teaching and learning at the polytechnic.

He further emphasised the importance of repositioning the institution to respond effectively to emerging educational, technological and workforce demands, in line with his administration’s commitment to revitalising the education sector.

Governor Fintiri expressed confidence in Professor Danjuma’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership and consolidate efforts towards making Adamawa State Polytechnic a centre of academic excellence, technical innovation and skills development.

While wishing the new Rector a successful and productive tenure, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education through improved infrastructure, institutional development and policies aimed at expanding educational opportunities across Adamawa State.

The appointment comes as the Fintiri administration continues to prioritise education and human capital development as key drivers of sustainable growth and socioeconomic transformation in the state.
