FG begins academic activities at Enugu fed tech college
The Federal Government has announced the immediate commencement of academic activities at the newly established Federal Technical College, Eke, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The development aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative of the present administration, aimed at revolutionising the education sector by building a robust workforce of skilled technical talent to power the nation’s industrial and technological advancement.
Addressing prospective pioneer students and parents at the college’s supplementary examination centre on Monday, the Principal, Mr Gideon Angbeye, said the institution represented a decisive step by the Federal Government to bridge Nigeria’s skill gap.
He disclosed that the Federal Government had made comprehensive provisions to ensure that all pioneer students received high-quality technical education completely free of charge.
Under the fully funded initiative, Angbeye said the government would cover all tuition fees, supply student uniforms and provide quality, nutritious daily meals.
He added that the Ministry of Education, under the leadership of the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa, would ensure the provision of free and quality meals throughout the period of their studies.
Detailing the college’s rigorous curriculum, the principal explained that the programme was structured to maximise hands-on proficiency.
He said, “TVET 1 will provide grounding in foundational theory and technical principles; TVET 2 will anchor on intensive, full-time practical exposure and workshop immersion; and TVET 3 will focus on integrated mastery combining advanced practical application with academic theory.”
To deliver world-class training, Angbeye said the college was establishing strategic partnerships with premier industrial research institutes, including the Projects Development Institute and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute, alongside other corporate service providers.
He urged the pioneer intake to seize the extraordinary opportunity to secure their futures and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He also extended appreciation to the host community of Eke for its exemplary hospitality, cooperation and proactive partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education in facilitating a seamless operational take-off in Enugu State.
