Trump Meme Coin Gala Offers Access to Top 185 Holders

The company running President Trump's "$Trump" cryptocurrency has revealed plans for an exclusive gala limited to the 185 largest holders, with the president set to appear as a speaker. The event's description bills it as "An evening with 3 Legends and President Donald J. Trump — plus a private meet & greet with a legend to be announced," while making clear that "no attendees will be granted a private meet & greet with the President."

Scheduled for Nov. 22 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, the gala's "3 legends" will be named before the event takes place, per the meme coin's website. Holders who qualify among the top 29 will gain access to a VIP reception at the gala, described as being held "with your favorite President and one of the Legends."

Smaller text below the event details carries a disclaimer: "there will be no private meetings with the President. No gifts will be accepted." For the four largest holders of $Trump, a "TRUMP 18 [karat] Gold Watch" is on offer. To attend, a person must place higher than 186th on the leaderboard before the eligibility period closes on Nov. 12. According to the site, a user's score grows "the longer you hold," but offloading one's entire $Trump balance means "you drop off all active leaderboards."

A comparable gathering took place in 2025, when Trump welcomed more than 200 leading investors in his meme coin to his golf club, with the top 25 receiving a White House tour instead.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) classifies meme coins such as $Trump as crypto assets acquired for "entertainment, social interaction and cultural purposes," with their "value is driven primarily by market demand and speculation." Such cryptocurrencies carry no inherent value and are frequently subject to sharp price swings.

Trump introduced the coin just before his second term started, drawing huge attention when his announcement post surpassed 100 million views. At launch, $TRUMP climbed 550 percent to almost $30, and its paper market value hit $30 billion, as reported by CoinGecko. By Thursday it was trading near $2, with an estimated market value of $580.88 million, though its price jumped noticeably when the webpage went live on Wednesday.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) have described the coin as a "rug pull" by Trump and have pressed the SEC to look into the president's connections to it. In February, the SEC said meme coins do not qualify as securities, opting for a case-by-case approach to decide whether enforcement is warranted.

Democratic lawmakers have also taken aim at Trump's cryptocurrency dealings after his financial disclosures showed he made over $500 million from World Liberty Financial, a venture he and his sons helped start in 2024.
