…State govt asks DSS to investigate disruption during Shettima’s visit to Emir of Lafia

The Nasarawa State Government has directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the disruption that marred the courtesy visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima to the Emir of Lafia on Wednesday.

The directive was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr. Shuaibu Magaji Labaran.

“It would be recalled that Vice President Shettima, was in Lafia on Wednesday, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Rally ahead of the 2027 General Elections.”

“Out of respect for the traditional institution, the Vice President had paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs.”

However, the State Government said “it regrettably observed that the traditional homage was marred by ignoble acts perpetrated by some irate youths suspected to be linked to some high-profile personalities including Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and IGP Muhammad Abubakar Adamu (Rtd), with the intent to smear the image of the Government and good people of Nasarawa State.”

“This act of recklessness deliberately carried out to show disregard to constituted authorities and to the exalted office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not only condemnable but unacceptable,” the statement said.

“Accordingly, the Department of State Services has been directed to immediately institute a full investigation to unravel the causes of the incident, the perpetrators and sponsors of the condemnable act, and bring them to book in order to face the full wrath of the law.”

The government entreated all citizens of Nasarawa State to continue to be law-abiding while carrying out their daily activities.
