NSC Sets October 28 for Enugu 2026 Sports Festival Venue Inspection

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has scheduled a joint technical meeting and inspection of venues for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged Coal City Games Enugu 2026, from October 27 to 30.
The exercise is aimed at assessing the readiness of facilities, resolving technical issues and reviewing preparations for the national sporting event, according to a statement issued on Thursday by Zira Zakka Nagga, Head of Press and Public Relations Unit of the commission.
The programme, outlined by the Office of the Director-General, Bukola Olopade, will begin with the arrival of participants on Tuesday, October 27, while the inspection of designated venues and facilities is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.
The inspection will continue alongside the Joint Technical Meeting on Thursday, October 29, with participants expected to depart on Friday, October 30.
Expected at the exercise are members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), secretaries and technical directors of National Sports Federations, zonal coordinators, state directors of sports and media representatives.
The commission said the meeting would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to review technical arrangements, identify potential challenges and evaluate the facilities designated for the Games ahead of the festival.
The exercise is also expected to strengthen coordination between the NSC, the Enugu State Government and other stakeholders involved in organising the competition.
The Coal City Games will bring together athletes from across the country to compete in various sporting events, with preparations expected to ensure that the facilities and technical arrangements meet the requirements of the festival.
The NSC, led by Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director-General Olopade, said the meeting and inspection formed part of efforts to ensure adequate preparation for the competition.
The National Sports Festival remains a major platform for discovering and developing sporting talent across Nigeria, providing athletes with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and compete for honours at the national level.
