NASS contingent tasked on discipline at Public Service Games

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, has charged the institution’s contingent to maintain the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and sportsmanship as they depart for the 45th Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in Kano State.
The Secretary of Human Resources and Staff Development at the National Assembly, Elder Essien Eyo Essien, delivered the charge on behalf of the Clerk. He congratulated the selected athletes and officials, emphasizing that representing the legislature among thousands of staff members is both a privilege and a solemn responsibility.
“As you journey to Kano, you must constantly remind yourselves of one thing: You are Ambassadors of the First Arm of Government,” the Secretary stated. “Every eye will be on you. Your behaviour, both on and off the field of play, will be interpreted as the character of the National Assembly.”
He urged the delegates to show absolute loyalty, punctuality, and respect for both game officials and local laws in Kano. Furthermore, he warned against fighting, substance abuse, drunkenness, indecent dressing, and any acts capable of bringing the National Assembly into disrepute, encouraging the team to “win with humility and lose with dignity.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Assembly Sports Club, Paul Kapnan Nanvyap, challenged the departing athletes and officials to compete with fierce determination, return with laurels, and uphold the integrity of the legislature.
The Chairman also expressed deep gratitude to the National Assembly leadership—including the Clerk, Kamoru Ogunlana, and Deputy Clerk, Engr. Bashir Yero—for their unwavering support and for approving an expanded delegation for this year’s edition.
