Mbah Praises Powell Homes MD as Hosana Estate Opens in Ibagwa Nike

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has singled out the Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd., Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, for praise over his entrepreneurial drive, calling him a model for young Nigerians who want to make a difference through business.
The governor also welcomed the firm's commitment to housing in Enugu, stating that private-sector spending of that kind strengthens the government's drive to speed up development statewide.
Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai stood in for Mbah at the commissioning of Hosana Estate in Ibagwa Nike, where the governor spoke.
Mbah said the Enugu-born businessman's investment showed the resilience and resolve needed to improve the state, and that it dovetailed with his administration's development agenda.
He thanked Powell Homes alongside other investors for directing resources into Enugu, saying their investments encourage the government's push to reposition the state.
The governor gave investors and residents his word that the administration would keep guaranteeing a secure environment in which businesses and communities can flourish.
"As government, our primary objective is to provide security for the people, and I'm delighted with what I've seen about the estate," Ossai said.
He asked the developers to work hand in hand with the estate management so the development is run effectively.
Infrastructure across the state will also keep receiving attention, he added.
"On our part, we'll keep expanding infrastructure and for all those we've not attended to, do not be disappointed, we're already on that path and we're progressing geometrically," he said.
The chairman of Enugu East local government area, Beloved-Dan Anike, thanked Powell Homes and Shelters for choosing Ibagwa Nike, pointing out that the road dualisation under way had brightened the area's chances of becoming a major urban centre.
Anike called the company's investment a trailblazing step into what he described as a "future goldmine," and gave an assurance that the council would back the Mbah administration's development agenda.
He noted that projects like Hosana Estate could help reduce Nigeria's housing deficit, particularly within Enugu State.
Igwe Emma Ugwu, the traditional ruler of Ibagwa Nike, voiced his own satisfaction with the project, saying the community backs genuine investments that can spur its growth.
The monarch remembered that community members had come to him seeking clarity on the project, and that he told them it matched the state government's development agenda and the community's wish to support credible businesses.
"When my people came to my palace to make enquiries about the project, I assured them that it aligns with the developmental initiative of His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and that the company is genuine and reliable," he said.
Ugwu thanked Emmanuel for bringing the estate to Ibagwa Nike and promised the community would support the project's success.
In his own remarks at the event, Emmanuel said the project went beyond the opening of just another estate, framing it as a blend of vision, perseverance, partnership and purpose.
"Today is not simply about commissioning another housing project. It is a celebration of vision, perseverance, partnership and the power of purpose," he said.
He gave God and everyone who contributed to the project the credit for its successful completion.
On behalf of the board, management and staff of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd., Emmanuel expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah and his deputy for attending the commissioning.
He said his company treats housing as something bigger than putting up buildings, and described a home as a wellspring of security, dignity and stability for families.
"At Powell Homes and Shelters, we believe that housing is more than bricks, concrete and physical structures. A home represents security. A home represents dignity. A home provides stability for families," he said.
According to him, Hosana Estate was designed as a planned, functional community shaped around what modern families need, not just a cluster of houses.
Internal roads, drainage systems, electricity infrastructure, recreational facilities, a synthetic football pitch and a children's playground are among the amenities he listed at the estate.
Nigeria's housing deficit and the money pressures facing many households were also acknowledged by the Powell Homes managing director, who said the company is striving to make owning a home easier.
He stated that the company will keep building quality homes at affordable price points while looking at innovative financing models, strategic partnerships and other housing solutions to widen access to homeownership.
The Hosana Estate commissioning, Emmanuel said, signals a fresh chapter in the company's expansion rather than the close of its journey.
"While today marks the successful completion and commissioning of Hosana Estate, our journey does not end here. If anything, this achievement strengthens our resolve to do more," he said.
He revealed that Powell Homes and Shelters intends to take its housing developments outside Enugu, with the wider aim of building more homes and communities and raising access to decent housing in other parts of Nigeria where the need exists.
