The women, in leaked WhatsApp conversations, accused Mr Pamilerin of having sexual relationships with female church members between 2019 and 2026, including shortly before his wedding.

According to the women, his alleged conduct previously prompted some members to leave the church. They said others stayed after believing he had repented, only to discover the alleged behaviour later continued.

The women also accused the cleric of showing little remorse and allegedly believing that no one could hold him accountable. They expressed concern about the welfare of women within his church and ministry, alleging that he had manipulated and indoctrinated some of them.

However, Mr Pamilerin acknowledged some of the allegations in a statement published on his Facebook page on Monday. He admitted that he was sexually involved with some women before his wedding.

He also said he had stepped back from his ministerial responsibilities to seek counsel and address issues from his past.

He said: “Over the past few weeks, I have stepped back from public ministry and social media to reflect, seek counsel, and honestly address matters from my past. Before I was married, I was involved in sexual relationships with women that I deeply regret.

“Although these events occurred before my marriage, I acknowledge that my actions were wrong and fell short of the standards of holiness, integrity, and self-control I am called to uphold as a Christian and minister of the Gospel.”

Full responsibility

Mr Pamilerin also acknowledged his actions and said he had taken responsibility.

He added that he had apologised to his wife, family, church, colleagues and everyone who had looked up to him for spiritual guidance.

He said he has since sought God’s guidance and consulted pastoral and professional advisers.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and sincerely apologise to the women involved for any hurt, disappointment, or harm I may have caused. I also apologise to my wife, my family, my church, my colleagues, and everyone who has trusted me and looked to me for spiritual leadership.

“I am not making excuses for what happened or seeking to minimise it because it occurred before my marriage. I have been seeking God, receiving pastoral and professional counsel, examining my conduct honestly, and taking necessary steps toward genuine repentance and accountability”, said Mr Pamilerin.

Consequences acceptance

He said he sincerely regretted his actions and pledged to conduct himself with greater integrity, responsibility and accountability going forward.

According to Mr Pamilerin, he was willing to bear the consequences of his actions and remain subject to relevant spiritual, pastoral and professional accountability.

“I recognise that repentance is demonstrated not only through words, but through changed conduct, accountability, and a willingness to accept the consequences of one’s actions. I will therefore continue to submit myself to appropriate spiritual, pastoral, and professional accountability throughout this process.

“I ask for prayer, not that my actions would be excused, but that I would have the humility and courage to face them honestly, make amends where appropriate, protect those affected, and allow God to produce genuine transformation in my life.”
