BREAKING: Court Strikes Out FG’s Charges Against Fake Agency DG, Adeniyi Adeyemi
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge brought against the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi by the federal government.
The court put an end to the the trial following the request of the federal government.
The federal government said a fresh charge will be filed against him before High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for arraignment.
Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN and Director of the Public Prosecution of the Federation DPPF moved the application for the termination of the charges.
Oyedepo told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, AGF, carried out a review of the case file of Adeyemi and the charge filed by the Inspector General of Police and found some loopholes.
He said the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi during his operations of the fake agency are those that can be prosecuted by the High Court of the FCT and not the Federal High Court.
The DPPF said that a new charge has been filed at the High Court of the FCT and that Adeyemi would be expeditiously arraigned afresh.
He urged the Judge to strike out the charge as required by law.
Following no objections from Ibrahim Angulu SAN who stood for Adeyemi, Justice Umar terminated the charge accordingly.
Adeniyi, 38 years old was being tried alongside two others whose whereabouts were unknown, on charges bordering on conspiracy and forgery.
The two others said to be at large were identified as Femi ( surname unknown) Anu (surname unknown).
