2027: We Have No Alliance With Gov Bala – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has dismissed reports suggesting a political alliance between the party and Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said it was unaware of any political agreement with Governor Bala outside the APC platform, urging the public to treat reports of such an alliance with caution unless supported by credible evidence.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Bauchi State APC publicity secretary, Hon. Shehu Dauda Muhd Udubo, said the party had observed rumours circulating among Governor Mohammed’s associates suggesting a political understanding between the two sides.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC), Bauchi State Chapter, wishes to categorically state that it is not aware of any political agreement or alliance with the Bauchi State Governor, H.E. Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, outside the platform of the APC,” the statement said.

Dauda stressed that the party had no established political agreement of the nature being suggested, calling on the public to exercise caution when considering the reports.

“We wish to make it clear that there is no established political agreement of the nature being suggested. We therefore urge the public to treat such claims with caution unless they are supported by credible evidence,” he added.

The APC also questioned the alleged political understanding, pointing to Governor Mohammed’s continued association with candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including the party’s presidential candidate.

“Furthermore, Governor Bala Mohammed has continued to associate with and campaign alongside candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including its presidential candidate.

“This raises legitimate questions about the claims of any political understanding with the APC and makes it necessary to clarify the situation for the benefit of the public,” the statement added.

Despite dismissing reports of an alliance, the Bauchi APC welcomed Governor Mohammed’s reported appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, and interventions in the health sector.

The party, however, urged the governor to formally join the APC, describing his continued political association with the APM as an ill-fated political journey.

“The APC Bauchi State Chapter welcomes Governor Bala Mohammed’s appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, health sector interventions, and invites him to abort his ill-fated sojourn in the APM by formally joining the All Progressives Congress,” Dauda said.

According to the party, Governor Mohammed’s formal defection to the APC would provide a consistent political platform for cooperation between the Bauchi State Government and the Federal Government.

“If the Governor genuinely wishes to align Bauchi State with the federal government’s development agenda, joining the APC would provide a clear and consistent political platform for cooperation, coordination, and the advancement of the interests of the people of Bauchi State.

“Bauchi State is too strategic to remain on the sideline of Nigeria’s mainstream politics,” the statement said.

The party explained that its position was informed by the need to strengthen collaboration between the state and federal governments, attract more development opportunities, improve access to federal programmes and promote the welfare of Bauchi residents.

The Bauchi APC further reaffirmed its commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing the importance of ensuring that the state benefits from the Federal Government’s policies, programmes and development initiatives.

The party called on residents to remain calm and focused on issues relating to good governance, development, unity and public welfare.

“We call on the people of Bauchi State to remain calm, discerning, and focused on the issues that matter most: good governance, development, unity, and the well-being of our people,” Dauda urged.
