Dickson Urges Nigerians to Stay United, Faithful as Nation Marks 66th Independence
Senator Seriake Dickson, national leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on Nigerians to remain patriotic and united as the country commemorates its 66th independence anniversary.
In a message marking the occasion, Dickson said the anniversary serves as a reminder of the duty to honour the sacrifices made by the nation's founding fathers and all those who have worked for its progress.
He urged citizens to renew their dedication to building a Nigeria anchored on justice, equity, unity, democracy, equal opportunities and respect for the dignity of every person, stressing that these principles must guide national renewal.
"Despite the challenges we face, I remain confident in the resilience of our people and the great potential of our country. Our diversity is our strength, and our collective responsibility is to preserve our democracy, strengthen our institutions, and build a nation where every Nigerian can live with dignity and hope," Dickson said.
The former governor of Bayelsa State also extended congratulations to the people of the state on its 30th creation anniversary, expressing optimism for a greater and more prosperous Bayelsa and confidence in the ability of its people to keep contributing meaningfully to Nigeria's development.
"Today also marks 30 years of the creation of Bayelsa State, my home state and a state that has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria. As a proud son and former Governor of Bayelsa State, I join my fellow Bayelsans in celebrating this important milestone and honouring the contributions of our people to our nation."
He added, "I remain hopeful for a greater and more prosperous Bayelsa and confident in the capacity of our people to continue making meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria."
Looking ahead to future elections, Dickson said the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains committed to offering a platform for national renewal and fielding candidates at all levels who are dedicated to service and good governance.
"As we approach another important moment in our democratic journey, the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains committed to providing a platform for national renewal and presenting candidates at every level who are committed to service and good governance. I am confident that, with the support of Nigerians, our candidates at every level will carry this vision forward and secure the mandate to serve the Nigerian people," he stated.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to keep faith in the country and work together for the stronger, more united and prosperous nation they desire.
