US agents raid congresswoman Omar’s home over immigration paperwork probe

US federal agents on Monday searched the Washington, DC-area home of Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to reports by the New York Post and Associated Press.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations unit carried out the search under a warrant authorised by a court, the Department of Justice said.

“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital, according to the New York Post report published on Monday, October 12, 2026.

“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson added.

The New York Post reported that the investigation concerned alleged fraud involving the Democratic congresswoman’s immigration paperwork.

However, the Justice Department did not publicly provide further details about the investigation in its statement.

The Associated Press also reported that federal agents searched Omar’s home on Monday morning as part of a criminal investigation, citing people familiar with the matter.

It said the Justice Department confirmed the execution of the warrant but did not disclose additional information about the case.

Omar, 44, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis.

She was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2018 and is known for her progressive political views and criticism of President Donald Trump.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the available reports do not establish that Omar has been charged with a crime in connection with the case.
