Presidency Backs ProTaxi's Electric Vehicle Rollout in Abuja

The Presidency has praised Promiseland Innovation for unveiling ProTaxi, a locally developed e-hailing platform, in Abuja, marked by the deployment of 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs).

Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Transportation and Mobility, offered the commendation during the official launch event in Abuja on Thursday.

Ade-John applauded the project and singled out Ambassador Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, Chief Executive Officer of PromiseLand Innovation, for the effort, noting that it reflected the president's broader transportation and mobility agenda. He stated that ProTaxi aligns with the administration's goals for the sector, especially in delivering modern transport solutions.

"I commend the CEO of PromiseLand Innovation for taking this bold step in advancing transportation and mobility in Nigeria," Ade-John said. "This is in line with the president's vision for transportation and mobility. We need more innovative solutions that can provide Nigerians with efficient and affordable transportation."

He further encouraged the company to maintain the initiative and extend it to other regions. "We encourage PromiseLand Innovation to sustain this initiative and expand it to other parts of the country," he added. "What we are witnessing today demonstrates what can be achieved when innovation and government policy work together."

The home-grown platform has begun operations in Abuja, giving commuters an electric-powered travel choice while opening up prospects for drivers and their households.

ProTaxi is a venture of PromiseLand Innovation, which aims to leverage innovation and technology to lift ordinary people out of poverty and generate income opportunities for families.

The launch drew guests and stakeholders as PromiseLand Innovation presented the ProTaxi ride service, centered on electric vehicles. The company had previously disclosed plans to onboard and empower 1,000 drivers with EVs, a move designed to create earnings for drivers and support their families.

At the event, Oloche explained that ProTaxi stemmed from the organization's wider mission of moving ordinary people from poverty to prosperity through innovation and technology. "That question is at the heart of why PromiseLand Innovation was born," he said.

He emphasized the belief that people's situations should not dictate their future, and that access to the right tools, opportunities, and environment can change lives. "We believe that circumstances should not determine destiny," Oloche said. "We believe that when you give people the right tools, the right opportunities, and the right environment, their lives could be transformed."

Presenting ProTaxi, Oloche described it as more than just another e-hailing app but a platform crafted to generate opportunities and alter destinies. "Today, we introduce a ProTaxi that is not just another e-hailing application. It is a platform that creates opportunity and changes destiny," he stated.

He pointed out that each ProTaxi trip involves a driver with a family whose livelihood may depend on the income from the platform. "Every time a passenger takes a ProTaxi ride, there is a driver behind the wheel," he said. "And behind the wheel, you have a driver with a family."

Oloche elaborated that drivers' earnings could assist families in covering essentials like school fees and rent. "That is to say, for every ride that is booked, a child's school fee is paid. A house rent is paid," he said. "And a dream is fulfilled for a better future to be built."

He noted that the company's goal is to create opportunities for thousands of drivers, with the impact reaching beyond individuals to their families and communities. "We believe that when we create opportunities for thousands of drivers, we are not watching families, but we are reshaping communities," Oloche said.

He added that the vision extends beyond Nigeria, as PromiseLand Innovation seeks to build an African technology company that can transform daily life and compete on a global scale. "Our mission is to build an African technology company that will transform everyday living and eventually compete with the best in the world," he said.

Oloche characterized the launch as part of the company's dream of using innovation and technology to create opportunities and enhance livelihoods. "The future is not what you wait for. The future is what you work towards every day," he said.

He also mentioned that ProTaxi is intended to offer Nigerians an affordable alternative for movement through electric mobility. "ProTaxi to me is yet another vision being fulfilled, a vision to provide opportunity for families to earn, to provide opportunity to families to be able to earn a living," he said.

Gift Emmanuel, Executive Director of PromiseLand Estate, also spoke, saying the initiative's vision is to assist the masses. She noted that operations have started in Abuja, with plans to expand to other states. "The vision is to help the masses. And, at least, he's here in Abuja now, and we are moving to other states to help other people too," she said.

The launch signifies the start of ProTaxi's operations in Abuja, with the company poised to roll out its driver empowerment program and broaden its electric mobility services.
